Ep 404: Government settles Levy design against RET sensitivities

Concluding a break-neck November, the UK government announced that it has determined the design of a Statutory Levy on problem gambling and introduced £2 and £5 stake limits on online slots. Recognised as the most sensitive matter to be resolved by the Gambling Review, the UK government unveiled the new structure of the Levy on research, education, and treatment (RET), to be led by the NHS as the chief commissioner.

And on today's episode of iGaming Daily, supported by Optimove, Joe Streeter, Editor of CasinoBeats, is joined by SBC's Content Director, Ted Menmuir, to delve deeper into this latest development.

The duo explore the implications of these changes, the structure of the levy and the industry's reaction, as well as the integration of the NHS in managing gambling harm treatment and prevention. The conversation also highlights the sensitivities surrounding the issue and the importance of effective funding allocation to support research, education, and treatment for problem gambling.
