:
Never mind, I'll find someone like you, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, or should I say, we have already. Welcome to iGaming Daily on our last episode from a venue that has given us so much joy and memories. I am your host for today, SBC Noticias journalist Fernando Nott, ready to share what the main event in the iGaming and sports betting industry in Latin America has left after 3 days packed with knowledge, networking and of course, a lot and lots of fun. Today I am joined again by Ana Maria Menezes, business journalist for SBC Noticias Brazil. How are you Ana? Hello Fer, nice to be back again actually. I'm pretty excited. I'm also a bit sad that it's the last day to be honest. I was having quite some fun, but it's also great to know that I'll be back home, you know, in my bed, my pillow. Yeah, but it's been pretty exciting. It's a bit of a bittersweet feeling. Exactly, exactly. Going back home to your bed, to your own bed. There's nothing like your own bed. want to say there's nothing like your own toilet as well. Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry, guys. That is true. It's also great you have something to long for the next year. So pretty excited. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And also today business journalist for SVG Noticias Brazil, Elisa Marcanti. Elisa Marcanti on her podcasting debut. How are you, Elie? Hi, guys. Thank you. I'm very well. Thank you. How about you? I'm very well. Thank you for asking. This has been the last event at this venue. So, like I said, again, it's a bittersweet feeling to be leaving this venue because we are already so familiar with it after so many years doing the SBC Summit Latino America here. It's also the very last SBC Summit Latino America as we know it, since it's turning into SBC Summit Americas next year. And that's why I said it's a bittersweet feeling because we're living here. We're living SBC Summit Latino America behind. but we are welcoming SBC Summit Americas which is actually a great, great feeling. So we hope to see you all next May from the 13th to the 15th of May again at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida of course. It's very close to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino so you will already be familiar with the area. but it's going to be a much bigger venue with a lot of people and the event that will mix the best of the Latin American markets together with those in North America. So we will have an amazing blend of people there. So hope to see you all next May 2025 for SBC Summit Americas. But that's actually something to discuss another time in a future podcast. Although make sure you register already so you don't miss out on this great, great event. But right now let's talk about this year's event, this year's SBC Submit Latin America First, I'd like to thank OptiMove, the number one CRM marketing solution for the iGaming market and sponsor of iGaming Daily. So Elisa, we will begin with you since it's your first time in the podcast. How did you find this year's SBC Summit Latin America? I'm really happy to be here again and even more excited to be joined. My first podcast ever. I have met a lot of great people during the event, and we had really nice networking parties. I'm really excited and looking forward to see all the costumes at the Halloween party tonight. and I can't help it. The SBC Summit Latin America has my heart. Okay, yeah, we're all very, very excited about this event and we have all been running around talking to people. I'm probably repeating myself by now this time of the week, but I'm always so happy to meet people, to share moments face to face and create memories. Of course, I'm getting all nostalgic here. But Ana, you were also in the podcast yesterday and told us a bit what you had been up to. But of course, a lot, like 24 hours in events time is like dog years, you know? It's like seven years in regular time. What have you been doing since we last spoke? OK, so there was actually something that I came across yesterday that was quite nice to understand and to get a better picture of, which is the fact that some operators are they have so little time to get the regulation, all the requests for the regulation, right? So they have so little time and they do all of this in, I don't know, like 50 days. So this is actually insane. You do have so little time to do so many stuff all at once. And I mean, it's usually one person responsible for most part of the project. So... you know, talking to people and realizing that they actually have this amount of workload in such a short time. Actually, it was kind of, I don't know if mesmerizing is quite actually what I'm trying to use here. But you know, yeah, so I've talked to a lot of people, to a lot of operators about this. So this was also great. And yesterday we went to the stadium. So this was also very nice. I mean, it was my first time in a stadium outside of Brazil. So that was quite exciting. Yeah. What about you, Eli, for what I've seen in SBC Noticias Brazil? Of course, if you haven't seen it as well, make sure you are subscribed to SBC Noticias Brazil newsletter as well as SBC Noticias newsletter too, because that's where you'll find my text, which is very, very important to you mostly. Yeah. So for what I've seen in Noticias Brazil, you've been to Irajá's senator, Irajá's keynote. That's a. Very special guest we have here at SBCC Summit Latin America. What, how, how was it like? Yeah, I watched it and I covered the panel about land-based casinos with Leonardo Benitez, the CEO of Propane and the Senator of Talking Chains, Ira Jabril. So go make sure you go to our website and check it because it's there. He brought a regulatory perspective about the legalization of land-based casinos in Brazil. It was very interesting knowing that Brazil is the first country that regulated online betting before land-based casinos Yeah, we have a long road ahead us, but he believes the LA project will be signed this year hopefully Okay, so that's a great news and you heard it first in SBC Summit Latin America and you read it first in SBC News in Brazil So make sure you are always close to what we are covering because that's where you'll find the most fresh information in the iGaming industry and the LAN based industry as well, of course. But yeah, that's great news. Actually LAN based casino is actually two times very important topic. Like it's very big on the Brazilian agenda right now, right? Yes. So we're expecting really to continue to see what happens. Wait and see. Brazilian hashtag, BrazilianWeddingC. And yeah, it's really interesting to see what's going to go down with the land-based casinos. Because right now, everything in the iGame industry in Brazil is actually rolling. It's going downstream really fast, and everything is going well so far. But the land-based is still on the way to NC. column so hopefully there will be more news soon and of course that will be covered in SBC Notícias Brasil. What else have you been up to? I had the pleasure to talk with Leonardo about the Brazilian market in my first video interview. It will be available in Portuguese on YouTube after the event so make sure to go there and check it. I was really excited about it and it went really well actually. We talk about the importance of responsible publicity in the industry and how we can protect vulnerable and underage people. He said how propane does since before the regulation and what are the plans for 2025 to guarantee responsible publicity in the Brazilian market. Yeah, I think responsible publicity and responsible advertising is really very important topic, of course, but is also one of the most covered topics in the agenda across probably worldwide but right now in latin america in general and particularly in argentina where over the last few months i'd like to say there has been a lot of debate around responsible publicity and some proposals to actually restrict publicity so definitely operators need to be on top of how to properly advertise their business because they don't want to get like, get on the bad side of lawmakers because lawmakers always like to say, okay, let's go with an all out ban on advertising. So it's probably very, very important for the Brazilian industry, which is actually quite new with the regulation coming into force and everything. I think it's very important that they actually be proactive and they actually start considering this type of things early on in the industry's evolution. But Ana, you were also attending some panels about Brazil, so why don't you tell us what you learned there? Okay, it's actually something that is related to what you just said about how operators need actually to be in tune with what is being advertised out there. So they need to make sure to choose influencers and brand ambassadors that are aligned with the company so the company will not be affected by what they say in a bad way. And this is something that is very, it's a big concern actually in Brazil. We had some problems with that before actually. So we do have Archive X from Conar. So it's a regulator in Brazil. So it's part of Ministério da Fazenda, et cetera. So it's also great to note that we do have the options to make the market as you know, as responsible as we can towards you know, advertisement and etc. So it's been quite nice hearing experts talking about this during the event. It was a great panel as well. So yeah. And I think one of the main takeaways of this event is that there has been a lot of Brazilian people. Yeah. We have been talking about this over the last week. And there has been a lot of Brazilian people here. I felt like kind of like, uh, I was hearing a lot of Portuguese around me. And that made me panic a little bit for some brief moments, but also made me really excited because, uh, there's a lot of like Brazilian focus. We have SBC Summit Rio coming up in February. So it's really exciting to see all these interests, all these, uh, bus around the Brazilian market and the Brazilian people actually taking part of it and being the main actors of what's going on instead or rather than having only foreign companies coming in to the market and taking over. So it's going to be a really nice mix I think in the Brazilian market. But what do you think about the Brazilian participation in the event? I think it's So nice seeing so many Brazilians interested in the industry, as you said, Fer. Since we are going through the regulation, I believe it's important to us Brazilians to be with people who know the industry, to network with important people and also to participate in events like SBC Summit Latino America. Also, there's also something, just like Fed, I almost... To be honest, I heard more people speaking Portuguese than English during this convention. And I just said hello to people, just like, hi, how are you? And they would just look at my name. It's a pretty Brazilian name. It feels like home. Yeah. And they're just like, Brazilian? And I'm like, yeah. They would just start speaking in Portuguese, you know, about all sorts of content. So I don't know. I think Frenly's works like this as well. So since Portuguese is our native language, we do feel more comfortable talking about, you know. difficult terms, I'm going to say this way, very specific, juridical terms sometimes. It's easier to use Portuguese in this sense, it feels more like home actually. So it's great to know that even we're in another country, we do have so many Brazilians here that we can actually speak in Portuguese just as much as we want. But yeah, it's exciting as well because it shows just how warm the country is and just how much we are expecting this regulation to, you know. be effective and how this is all going to change the market and probably the history of Brazil as well as a country. So yeah, it's quite, it's quite nice. Did anyone say iGaming Daily Podcast in Portuguese? Maybe. Oh wait, I just got the question. Sorry, Fred. It was not a question. I give you daily. It's ok. Nobody understands me, nobody gets me, mom. But we're very excited to see everyone at SBC Summit Rio next February 25th to the 27th at Rio Centro in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I'm really excited to be in Rio again. I think like we were talking with Lugando editor at SBC Noticias, the boss, as you all know it, that SBC Summit Latinoamerica used to be our favorite event, but SBC Summit Rio uh... It has earned... It has potential. It's starting to build momentum, it's starting to build fame. I think we all really like Rio. And we are all looking forward to be there, to meet our Brazilian friends. Of course, you guys are going to have a lot of work there. But it's going to be really, really exciting. And I hope to see everyone actually going there to Rio de Janeiro. But now let's go really quickly through the news. There has been some developments in Mexico because a deputy in Guanajuato, in the state of Guanajuato, is looking to raise taxes in the country to actually, they actually justify themselves by saying, okay, we want this to protect the people for some reason. I'm not really understanding, really. But yeah, that's what I was saying earlier that the industry needs to be productive and needs to be in touch with lawmakers, which I know it regularly is. But yeah, people in Guanajuato are going to want to be very, very on alert over that proposal. And also the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego, which is the regulator of Chile, which oversees gaming there in the country, has stopped. or has finalized the bidding process for the municipal casinos in Castro and Coyaque. So nobody won, apparently. They said the three companies that had pushed to earn the license there did not comply with the requirements in the technical basis set by the government. So they will restart the bidding process sometime during this year. make sure you subscribe like I said to svcnoticias.com so subscribe to the newsletter and keep up to date with everything that's going down in latino america girls thank you so much for joining us today thank the audience for listening to us as always thank you Ania McDonald a lovely producer for always being so patient with us and to all of you out there I hope to see you and catch you in
