Ep 293: Betting on Britain's ballot date

As the general election campaign drags on with both current Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and, if the polls are to be believed, in-bound Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, blowing non-fatal punches to each other regarding topics such as immigration, the NHS and tax cuts, it’s gambling that has now taken centre stage following a slew of betting activities in government.

With the general election set for July 4th, the final weeks of the campaign have been overshadowed by a growing scandal over candidates and former MPs betting on the date of the general election, with some even placing a wager on losing their own seats.

And on today’s episode of iGaming Daily, supported by Optimove, James Ross is joined by SBC’s Media Project Director, Martyn Elliott and CasinoBeats Editor, Joe Streeter, to dive into the different investigations happening by the Gambling Commission on these matters, who’s bet on what, we’ll question the role of operators and then also ask the question… is all this legal?

Then, towards the end of the show, we’ll part ways and leave you in the hands of SBC’s Content Director, Ted Menmuir, who’s currently with a special guest in Georgia. Why you may ask? Stay tuned to find out.
