Ep 009: Path to US profitability

This time last year, US gambling operators were reporting some big losses in the wake of an expensive New York sports betting launch during their Q1 earnings reports. So far in 2023 though, the results have been much rosier. Major operators are cinching the marketing purse strings and the motto of the moment appears to be “the path to profitability.”

On today’s episode of iGaming Daily, SBC Americas Editor Jessica Welman and SBC Americas Senior Writer Charlie Horner take a look at where the major players are on that path and the trends we’re seeing as the Q1 earnings reports roll in.

The pair discuss FanDuel, Caesars, Penn, Rush Street, MGM, and PointsBet, which recently confirmed it is in discussions to sell off its US business. Charlie and Jess also try to predict potential buyers for the company before running down themes and trends they saw in the Q1 reporting.
